I HAVE WANDERED ALL MY UNENDING DAYS
Pierre Bonnard (1867-1947), Earthly Paradise (c 1915)
I found this lovely little poem, written by my husband, on a scrap of paper around the house. I asked him what it was and he said it was one of series of Psalms he had written. I asked him if I could put it up on the Stuff Page. I also found this beautiful pastoral fantasy, by Pierre Bonnard on the same day, and put them together. They are such beautiful things. I Have Wandered All My Unending Days
I have wandered all my unending days
Shadowed your shining aspect in the stars
Hid in alleys and tramped broken highways
With little in my pockets but my prayers
And I have searched all my unending days
Slept in fields beneath a canopy of stars
Your face emerging in the early morning haze
Held in its position by my prayers
And though I have nothing but this prayer
That all will be revealed, by and by
I pray some day, my Lord, you will appear
And lead me to your mansion in the sky
