Warning. Listen at own risk no. 9

Dolphins

I’ve just walked into my husband’s office.

“What’s the matter, babe? You look a bit down,” I ask.

“I don’t know.”

“Have you been listening to Tim Buckley again?”

“Maybe,” he says.

“I warned you about that.”

“Yeah, I know.”

“Well, maybe you have a new Song of Devastation for the Stuff Page? It’s been a while and people keep writing in and asking to hear another one.”

“Well, okay, but this one you’ve got to watch the performance on The Old Grey Whistle Test. Tim Buckley sings the gorgeous Fred Neil song, Dolphins and simply loses himself in his own despairing beauty. It’s difficult to watch for us sensitive types. He just flies away into his own sadness.”

“Okay, let’s do that then. But, hey, cheer up!”

“Maybe I should start a new bunch of posts for The Vampire’s Wifers. Songs of Unremitting Happiness! What do you think?”

“I’m not quite sure the world is ready for that yet.”

“Yeah, you’re probably right. You usually are.”

Dolphins

Sometimes I think about Saturday's child
And all about the times when we were running wild

I've been a-searchin' for the dolphins in the sea
Ah, but sometimes I wonder, do you ever think of me

This old world will never change the way it's been
And all our ways of war can't change it back again

I've been a-searchin' for the dolphin in the sea
Ah, but sometimes I wonder, do you ever think of me

Lord, I'm not the one to tell this old world how to get along
I only know that peace will come when all our hate is gone

I've been a-searchin' for the dolphin in the sea
Ah, but sometimes I wonder, do you ever think of me
