Thank you, Izzy, for this lovely letter and, indeed, a beautiful and heart-wrenching version ‘Song Of Devastation.’ I never thought anyone could touch the original version of ‘To Love Somebody’ by The Bee Gees, which is my husband’s favourite vocal ever, but this version is absolutely gorgeous. Many thanks, Izzy, I can’t stop playing it, on this Sunday morning!

Much love, Susie x

Dearest Susie,

I really hope this is your correct email address, I just guessed it! Izzy here!

I wanted to say hello, and send love. Also, to send you a couple of things that I thought might be Stuff worthy.  I often see things that I think you might like, but I mostly feel too shy to send them.

I recently saw this beautiful photograph of Barbara Streisand sitting in her Claridge's suite in 1969, writing a cheque for a Gustav Klimt portrait that she'd just purchased. The portrait itself is so beautiful and heartbreaking, 'Ria Munk on her Deathbead'.

Commissioned posthumously by Ria's mother in 1912.  I've attached a picture of it here, and the photograph too. It struck me how Barbara looks as though she's wearing a Devastator Dress, how beautiful she is with her centre parted hair and glorious profile, a true Vampire's Wife woman!

I also have a song of devastation.  I know that both you and Nick love the Bee Gees, To Love Somebody.  I love this song too, I also love Gram Parsons, and this Gram & The Flying Burrito Brothers' version just breaks my heart, his voice, the yearning!

At first I thought these two little random Stuffs weren't related, but they're both total Devastators, and Barbara and the Bee Gees were no strangers either!

with all love
