The Vampire's Wife does The Dance of Life

The Dance of Life

The Dance of Life by Edvard Munch painted in 1900 takes place on a bright summer night along the shore of a fjord in Oslo. Lit by a full moon, couples engage in an energetic dance. The phallic reflection of the moonlight in the water gives the scene a mood of dark sexuality. In the centre of the painting, a man in a dark suit and a woman in a long velvet peach-coloured festival dress are sunk within each other. Here at the Vampire’s Wife we are in the process of doing a version of this dress (see above). The woman’s dress wraps around the man’s legs, a couple of strands of her hair reach out towards him. The two dancers seemed totally absorbed in each other. On the right side a woman stands in a long ruby velvet festival dress, her hands folded in front of her. Here at The Vampire’s Wife we have done our own version of this dress! On the left side a girl in a long white festival dress reaches towards a flower in front of her. We are working on this dress and will follow soon! Watch this space!
