THE WEIGHT OF GOD

THE WEIGHT OF GOD
L
ouis from Germany sent this very sweet letter to my husband’s glorious Red Hand Files.

Do you sometimes cry over literature? Here is a poem by Emily Dickinson. I usually don’t cry a lot (I swear), but my eyes are full of tears every time I reach the last line.

The answer is yes. He cries. As do I. And Emily Dickinson is such a wonderful poet. Thank you for sending this beautiful poem. It came just at the right time! Love Susie x

The Brain—is wider than the Sky—
For—put them side by side—
The one the other will contain
With ease—and you—beside—

The Brain is deeper than the sea—
For—hold them—Blue to Blue—
The one the other will absorb—
As sponges—Buckets—do—

The Brain is just the weight of God—
For—Heft them—Pound for Pound—
And they will differ—if they do—
As Syllable from Sound—
