THE PEACE OF WILD THINGS

THE PEACE OF WILD THINGS

A lovely letter came from a ‘hillbilly fan’ named Blair, who lives in Lagrange, Kentucky, to my husband’s wonderful Red Hand Files and he asked me if I would post it on Stuff. The quotes were so beautiful, so touching, I couldn’t resist. Many thanks, Blair and with much love, Susie x

I’m sending you a salutation or recommendation. I’d like to gift you and anyone you would like to share with, these two quotes to meditate upon as they have both helped me along certain moments of uncertainty, and allowed me to re-calibrate myself in relation to life.

1) “I come into the peace of wild things who do not tax their lives with forethought of grief. For a time I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.”

2) “Better than any argument is to rise at dawn and pick dew-wet red berries in a cup.”

Both quotes are from a poet from my state in America, his name is Wendell Berry. My late father gifted me with an introduction to this man’s works, and I in turn wanted to gift to you and anyone in your sphere those 2 quotes that have (in my personal opinion) much insight.

May love guide you always,

A hillbilly fan named Blair
