THE DOLLY SUITES – The Vampire's Wife

I’ve been listening to Fauré’s lovely Dolly Suites performed by Katia and Marielle Labèque. The Dolly Suite, Op. 56, is a collection of piano pieces for four-hands by Gabriel Fauré. It consists of short pieces written or revised between 1893 and 1896, to mark the birthdays and other events in the life of the daughter of the composer's mistress, who went by the name of Dolly. I heard this wonderful version of The Smiths classic song "There is a Light That Never Goes Out" by the brilliantly ebullient Dum Dum Girls on the DJ Lonny’s amazing Cover to Cover on Radio Lewes this week. What a great show! What a superb song! What a joyful cover! ‘To die by your side is pleasure and a privilege’ indeed!
