My husband sent me this absolutely beautiful folk song that was sent to his Red Hand Files by Endre from Budapest. It is such a gorgeous heart-breaking thing sung by Gábor Madaras. It’s lovely to think you sing this sad little song to your infant son. Purely sublime. Thank you, Endre, this is just what I needed this morning. Love Susie x
This is the song I’ve been singing to my son every day before going to bed. It’s one of the most beautiful Hungarian gypsy folk songs ever written by Dankó Pista, entitled ‘My Violin has been broken’ and as I write this letter I’ve realise how amazingly it’s title resonates.
