Salma Hayek heads the amazing mothers2mothers organisation. mothers2mothers is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing mother-to-child transmission of HIV in sub-Saharan Africa by providing education and support for pregnant women and new mothers living with HIV. mothers2mothers believes in the power of women to eliminate paediatric AIDS and create health and hope for themselves and their babies, families, and communities. Founded in 2001, the organisation currently works in over 400 sites in 7 countries in Africa and employs over a 1000 women living with HIV. We honour Salma and the sub-Saharan ‘mentor’ mothers here at The Vampire’s Wife.
