I was digging through some old photographs and found this double portrait of the husband and me taken by the esteemed Vampire’s Wife chronicler and beautiful friend Polly Borland in 1999 probably. I asked Polly if she remembered taking this photo and she wrote back.

You are the most gentle, shy and beautiful girl but in front of the camera other contradictory facets emerge. You can’t be pinned down. You always surprise me. It’s the same with Nick. You are not what or who others imagine you to be.

I asked the husband what he thought Polly meant and he said he has no idea but to throw it into Stuff as it sounds enigmatic! So there you go. We love you Polly.
