Even the Trees
Alex from Cleveland, USA sent this wonderful poem to my husband’s Red Hand Files. The poem is by the Lebanese poet, Hayan Charara and is so powerful. I found it very helpful and I suspect others will, in this time. Thank you, Alex, for your generosity. Love, Susie x
On the Death of Other People’s Children
Their deaths astonish
even the trees
but in no time we live again
the joys
they lost
and never knew.
Someone must
tell their mothers and fathers
to eat, drink, sleep,
to sing and dance.
And someone else
must tell them
not to.
