Black Narcissus, the Catholic Imagination and The Met Gala
The morning after the Met Gala now and the theme was Fashion and the Catholic Imagination and I feel it only right to point out that at this moment in time, Powell and Pressburger’s extraordinary movie Black Narcissus is my most beloved film. Every frame of it is erotically charged to such a heightened degree that it is almost impossible to endure and indeed, for one bedevilled nun, trapped in the Tibetan monastery high in the mountains, it actually proved to be so. I love Black Narcissus and I love Alessandro Michele and thank him for inviting my husband and me to the extraordinary event at the Met last night. Thank you, Alessandro! And look! Look! My God! Please look! Look at the Gucci dress!!
